NEW DELHI: The Central administration has given it green signal to the Karnataka government's decision to ban use of endosulfan after reports of its disastrous consequences, particularly in Dakshina Kannada district came out.

Minister of agriculture, food & consumer affairs, Mr Sharad Pawar has also claimed that the farmers in different states have cited good results after the use of endosulfan. Last week, the Karnataka Cabinet took the decision to ban endosulfan use for a time span of six months. Karnataka Cashew Development Board in villages of Dakshina Kannada has started aerial spraying of endosulfan with the aim to control T-mosquito pest in the crop.

The Endosulfan Manufacturers and Formulators Welfare Association (EMFWA) had challenged the decision of ban in the Karnataka High Court.
