cinderella man Posted February 25, 2011 Report Posted February 25, 2011 HYDERABAD: Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) chairman Prof M Kodandaram today allayed the fears of non-Telanganites in Hyderabad that the T movement was against people from Andhra region. The Telangana movement is only against some “selfish” leaders who wanted to exploit Telangana region for their benefit, he said and emphasised that they are not against the people of Andhra.Speaking at a fast camp of Andhras who were expressing solidarity with the Telangana cause at Kukatpalli here on Thursday, Prof Kodandaram said that in 1969, the slogan that was used was ‘Andhras go back’. “But we do not have that slogan now. Those who are living in Hyderabad or in Telangana region are treated as those belonging to this area,” he said and said that if migrants from Andhra had any doubts, he was ready to discuss with them. “We are ready for a discussion to allay their fears. To preserve the cosmopolitan nature of Hyderabad, we are ready for any legal or constitutional safeguards for them,” he said.Prof Kodandaram said that after bifurcation of the state, the two regions would stand to gain. Telangana and Andhra region would prosper simultaneously. It is a winwin situation for both, he pointed out.The TJAC gave a call for the continuation of agitations for Telangana. On Feb 25 and 26, in all the districts of Telangana, people from all walks of life would express their solidarity with the employees who are on non-cooperation movement by taking out solidarity rallies.On Feb 27, a campaign through media would be taken up to expose the Congress MLAs and ministers and how they were undermining the Telangana cause. On Feb 28, Congress MLAs would be burnt in effigy in all mandal head quarters. This would be followed by rail rokos for which the date has not yet been finalised. In the second week of March, there would be a chalo Hyderabad programme.
