Verizon will end its unlimited data plan for the iPhone as early as this summer, according to Verizon's Chief Financial Officer Fran Shammo.

Bloomberg reports that the carrier, which began selling the iPhone last month, now offers a $30 unlimited data plan on the device. Such plans on the handset are "not a long-term solution," Shammo said today at a Morgan Stanley conference in San Francisco.

Verizon is estimated to sell 2 million iPhones this quarter. Shammo noted that 60 percent of devices were purchased online but wouldn't give details on the number sold or on the upcoming tiered data plans.

Those who have signed up for the Verizon iPhone with the unlimited plan will most likely be able to keep the plan at least until their contract expires.
