Well if my guess was Correct, he was trying to project himself as a unique leader atleast under opposition.

And he was targetting the 2019 elections not if 2014 as per his tactics..

IF congress looses complete grip after this Elections, then he wanted to project himself as the  only Leader who can stay against TDP as a prime Oppositon..

something similar to YSR strategy....

his strategy is completely diff. he is not going to wait till 2014.  next assembly elections tharuvatha AP lo congress undadhu. jagan is not good enough to win but good enough to kill AP congress.
drawback of jagan, he is trying to imitate his father. thats not going to work for many days.
