Rambob Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 The demolition of statues of Telugu icons on the tank bund on the banks of Hussainsagar is snowballing into a major confrontation between the Seemandhra and Telangana activists.Reacting strongly to the allegations of cultural invasion by Telangana protagonists on Seemandhra by demolishing statues on tank bund, the Telangana activists have openly declared that they would repeat such incidents if their demands are not met. They have raised a fresh demand for installation of statues of prominent personalities from Telangana region.“If the vandalized statues are re-installed without meeting the demands of Telangana people, we will demolish them again,” warned Kavitha, president of Telangana Jagruthi and daughter of TRS Chief K Chandrasekhar Rao.She pointed out that there has been long-pending demand for erecting statue of Komaram Bheem, the legendary tribal leader from Adilabad district. The government has failed to take any steps for honouring Komareem Bheem while it is showing a tearing hurry in sanctioning funds for re-installation of the damaged statues on Tank Bund. The Telangana people would not sit quiet if their language, culture and heritage were sought to be undermined. Along with Kavitha, several Telangana poets, writers and intellectuals on Monday took out a “Swabhimaan Rally” at Tank Bund to assert the self-pride of Telangana people.They lashed out at Seemandhra intellectuals for staging a so-called peace rally at Tank Bund on Sunday where they chose to insult the Telangana movement and hurt the sentiments of the people.KCR’s son K T Rama Rao, speaking in the “Telangana Assembly” also warned that such acts of vandalism would be repeated again and again, if the government ignored the sentiments of the Telangana people and went ahead with the re-installation of old statues.[color=yellow]Eelanj..mdanuuuuu centerrrrrr loooooo ongooooopettiiiiii kosiiiiiiii kaaaaram pettaliiiiiiii[/color]
