One of the largest predators on earth – a great white shark. The impressive size and weight, three rows of sharp, razor teeth and incredible strength make this fish one of the most dangerous and at the same time interesting for the study.
It is the ultimate predator, nature’s most efficient killing machine which can hunt and kill its prey with remarkable ease. These shots capture the splendour and horror of a great shark weighing two tons leaping 10ft from the water as it closes inevitably on its victim. After reaching speeds of up to 35mph on its ascent from the depths, the shark uses serried ranks of razor-sharp teeth to tear into the seal.
In general, sharks swim at an average speed of 8 kilometres per hour but when feeding or attacking, the average shark can reach speeds upwards of 19 kilometres per hour.
