Shoppers eager to get their hands on this year’s hottest tech product may have to wait longer than expected. Last week’s earthquake and tsunami, as well as the ongoing nuclear crisis at Fukushima, have forced many Japanese manufacturers to halt production, meaning that Apple could have trouble obtaining the iPad 2’s unusually thin battery and flash memory. Both components are produced at technologically advanced Japanese factories. The current wait time for an iPad ordered online is four to five weeks, and while Apple has made no official announcement, analysts say that time could increase. The iPad 2 is scheduled to launch in Canada on March 25.
