If he went as contract employee through consultancy.. let him ask those ppl to process his H1B as he will get client letter too.. One of my friends also had same situation!
The last option is to unhide his current status .. but before that let him try other ways like if any1 file H1...!

premium processing loo H1 cheyinchukuni...intaloo valla manager thoo H1 transfer chesthadoo ledoo kanukomani cheppu...oka 2months loo cheptha decision idi adi ani sollu kottamanu bayya...

if the manager aggree to transfer H1, then tht is good enough to get H1 in premium and do a transfer....ee vihsyam mee pend present employer ki teliyanivvakunda undamani cheppu ATB
