katharnak Posted March 27, 2011 Report Posted March 27, 2011 The members of the Justice B N Srikrishna Committee are turning out to be the most hated figures in the state now, going by the furious reactions to the contents of the “secret note” in their report on Telangana issue.The Chapter 8 of the 500-page report, pertaining to law and order and security related matters, has angered Telangana proponents to such an extent that they are demanding stringent punishment against the panel members for insulting the statehood movement. No government-appointed committee in the past had earned so much antipathy from the public.The Telangana protagonists from different walks of life have attacked the committee for acting as a stooge of the Seemandhra capitalists and the ruling Congress and giving a completely misleading report to suppress the Telangana movement.“The SKC members must be put in jail for what they have done,” fumed senior Telugu Desam Party legislator Nagam Janardhan Reddy at a meeting organized by the Telangana Journalists’ Forum in Hyderabad. He was supported by Telangana activists across the political spectrum. They spit venom at the five-member panel for making a mockery of the opinion-gathering exercise. According to a lead story in “Eenadu”, the meeting praised the High Court Judge Narasimha Reddy for disclosing the contents of the so-called secret report and exposing the devious designs of the SRK Committee.The speakers, including representatives from various political parties and civil society organizations, wanted a national debate on the issues like “media management” and “managing Telangana politicians” mentioned in the committee’s report.The committee members are also facing the charge of breach of privilege of the legislators by making damning observations in their report. Some MLAs and MLCs have given privilege notice against the SRK panel and demanded that the committee members be summoned to the House and action be taken against them.On political front, the race has intensified for the APCC Chief’s post. The Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy is lobbying for his favourite candidate Sambani Chandrasekhar, a former minister from Khammam district, a report in “Andhra Jyothy” said. The high command is keen on simultaneously filling up the three posts of APCC President, Deputy Chief Minister and the Assembly Speaker.According to a report in “Andhra Bhoomi”, the Chief Minister is keen to keep one out of the five MLC seats, under Governor’s quota, in reserve so that Y S Vivekananda Reddy can be nominated for it in future. This will become necessary if he loses the by-election in Kadapa district. The Congress is planning to field him for Pulivendula Assembly seat.All the leading dailies gave prominent coverage to the war of words between the two bitter rivals from Anantapur district--Minister N Raghuveera Reddy and senior legislator J C Diwakar Reddy-- over the party’s defeat in the district in the recent MLC polls. @3$% @3$% @3$% @3$%
