psycopk Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 In a significant decision, Chief Minister K Rosaiah on Tuesday ordered an indepth inquiry by Central Bureau of Investigation into the alleged irregularities in Obulapuram mines owned by Karnataka tourism minister Gali Janardhan Reddy in Anantapur district. Rosaiah, who had a detailed meeting with Chief Secretary P Ramakanth Reddy and other senior officials in the morning, decided to order a CBI probe into the scandal. The government immediately wrote to the Centre entrusting the investigation to the CBI. And the CMO leaked the news to the media, rather than makign an official announcement. By taking the decision, the chief minister has hit two birds at a shot. First, he has silenced the Opposition parties, which are creating a lot of nuisance everyday creating embarrassing to the Congress party before the GHMC elections. Secondly, he also sent a clear message to Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy that he would not succumb to any pressure tactics and that he knows how to tackle the mines mafia controlling the politics. In a way, Rosaiah also indirectly endorsed the negative reports in the media against the OMC and its links with Sakshi!
psycopk Posted November 17, 2009 Author Report Posted November 17, 2009 Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy might have been clearly disturbed with the Rosaiah government ordering a CBI inquiry into the Obulapuram mining irregularities, but he did not show it on his face, while speaking to the media. Jagan, who earlier cancelled the press conference on coming to know about the CBI inquiry, regained his composure and spoke to the waiting electronic media later. He said he would whole-heartedly welcome the CBI inquiry into the OMC scandal, if any. He also made it clear that there was no connection whatsoever between OMC and Sakshi media. “Not a single rupee has flown from OMC into Sakshi. And there is nothing wrong if the office addresses of Red Gold, the associated company of the OMC, Sakshi and RR associates are the same,” he clarified. Asked whether he would campaign in the GHMC polls, Jagan said he was yet to come out of the grief after his father’s death. “Yet, if the high command asks me to campaign, I will do,” he said.
