On December 9th 2010, 33 year old Laxman Dusa suffered a major  stroke in his brain stem due to a blood clot in the pons area.  The stroke has left him badly paralyzed. He is suffering from an extremely rare and debilitating condition known as '"locked-in syndrome". Laxman cannot move, cannot speak, cannot swallow food and is fighting to keep his dignity. Otherwise,  the stroke has cruelly spared virtually all of Laxman's conscious and unconscious processing systems. His memory, his  reason, and his emotions are all intact. He can see and hear and feel emotions - and feel pain - but he has no way of communicating except by moving his eyelids up-and-down. He is an active  mind trapped inside an unresponsive body.

Laxman is currently in a rehabilitation facility in New York  where he is fighting hard to regain his physical abilities . Insurance only covers part of his expenses and is soon set to cease coverage. You can help him fight his condition by contributing to his recovery.
