psycopk Posted November 24, 2009 Report Posted November 24, 2009 In yet another embarrassment to the Rosaiah government, the Supreme Court-appointed Central Empowered Committee directed that mining in all the six mines in Obulapuram area in Anantapur district be stopped forthwith till a fresh survey is done. In a letter written to Chief Secretary P Ramakanth Reddy on Tuesday, the CEC also directed that the iron ore dug out at present be confiscated and prevented from being transported. The CS immediately brought this to the notice of the chief minister, who called for an emergency meeting with Mines Minister Balineni Srinivasa Reddy and other officials, apart from Advocate General Seetharamanjaneyu to discuss the repurcussions. The govenrment is looking into legal aspects of the order. “We will take a decision on the CEC directive, after analysing all pros and cons,” the chief secretary said. If action is taken against OMC, it will cause legal problems to Rosaiah and also from the Jagan group. If he does not take action, there will be trouble from the Opposition and also the SC. It is definitely a troublesome situation for Rosaiah!
