katharnak Posted June 3, 2011 Report Posted June 3, 2011 LUCKNOW: The state government will only play the role of a facilitator for the private developers in the new land acquisition policy. This new policy was introduced after the state government has witnessed strong pressure due to the farmers' agitation.On June 2, the chief minister had held a farmers' panchayat for discussing their problems. Chief Minister Ms Maywati has said that the new policy will be implemented with immediate effect. After facing criticism from the private companies, the state government has decided that from now on, the developers would be buying land directly from the farmers.The acquisitions could only take place with the agreement of 70% of the farmers in a given area. If there is any disagreement, the project will be reviewed.
