katharnak Posted June 7, 2011 Report Posted June 7, 2011 Mr R Narayana Murty, hero of revolutionary films, has said that it was shameful on the part of the Andhra Pradesh government that Tamil Nadu has recommended the name of noted playback singer Mr S P Bala Subrahmaniam for the civilian award Padma Bhushan.Speaking at a programme got up to felicitate Mr Bala Subrahmaniam on his getting Padma Bhushan, Mr Narayana Murty has said that the AP government should at least now open its eyes and recommend the name of SPB for Padma Vibhushan.Alleging that the Telugus were being discriminated against, Mr Narayana Murty has questioned why the Union government which accorded Bharat Ratna on MGR had not conferred it on late N T Rama Rao. “In what way NTR was inferior to MGR? The Congress party needed the help MGR and they gave Bharat Ratna to him and denied it to NTR as he fought against the Congress. Likewise, the Congress government has given Bharat Ratna to Hindustani musician Bhimsen Joshi and ignored Telugu music maestro Balamurali Krishna, simply because he happens to be a Telugu man,” the fiery actor said.Several organizations, including the ‘Fine Arts and Cultural Themes (FACTS) of Australia, led by its founder Mr Koduri Rama Murty, its founder felicitated Mr Bala Subrahmaniam, who sung over 42,000 songs in 16 Indian languages. An audio CD of Sabbashra Sankara, by noted actor and director Mr Tanikella Bharani was released on the occasion.
