BANGALORE: Students, professionals, residents of Sankey Road and activists holding a peaceful protest were allegedly shoved and dragged to the High Grounds and Vyalikaval police stations. This left some of them bruised and seriously hurt.

They were taken into custody at the police stations, detained for over an hour, and later released.

Victoria D'Souza injured her back when she was allegedly dragged into the police van. "We were protesting peacefully. I fell down but police dragged me along a certain distance and pushed me into the van," she said.

Six girls and many boys were also injured. "I learnt about the protest online and decided to participate. These trees are more than 150 years old. If they cut them, we will never be able to see the trees again. The government is not thinking about the long run. Climate change is ruining us and it will just go on if trees are being chopped," said Saira Sayani.


Her right hand was injured when she was pulled and dragged into the police van. "We lay down on the ground to stop them from cutting the trees. It was a non-violent protest and we requested them to show us the legal order. But they lifted and dragged us. Many girls were bruised and injured," she said.

Saira added that a 16-year-old was pushed into a barbed fence, dragged along a wall and then pushed into the van. She was severely injured. However, she was determined to continue the protest till the BBMP stopped cutting trees.

Meenakshi Bharath said people were physically picked up and dumped into the vans. "I came to attend the protest and they picked me up immediately," she said.

Charges were framed against four people who were detained at Vyalikaval police station, but were later withdrawn. Said activist Vinay Sreenivasa: "We were charged under Sections 353, 143 and 149 for obstructing public servants from carrying out their duty. Police have dropped the charges now."

Environmentalist Suresh Heblikar said: "We were treated well at the police station. They gave us juice and said they were just carrying out orders."

రెండేళ్లుగా ఈ చికిత్సకు సంబంధించి ప్రయోగాలు చేస్తున్నామని.. వాటి ఫలాలు ఇప్పుడు అందుబాటులోకి వచ్చాయని ఏఐజీఈ చైర్మన్ డాక్టర్ నాగేశ్వర్‌రెడ్డి తెలిపారు. శస్త్రచికిత్స అనంతరం ఆయన మీడియాతో మాట్లాడుతూ.. ‘ఈ పరికరాలు కేవలం కార్పొరేట్ ఆస్పత్రులకే పరిమితమైతే ఉపయోగం లేదు. మారుమూల పల్లెలకు కూడా అందుబాటులోకి రావాలి. ప్రభుత్వం ముందుకొచ్చి ఎక్కువ సంఖ్యలో ఈ యంత్రాలను తయారు చేయగలిగితే రూ. 5 వేలకే శస్త్రచికిత్స చేయవచ్చు. అంతేకాదు.. పేషెంటు ఎక్కడున్నా రోబో యంత్రాన్ని హైదరాబాద్‌లో ఉంచి, ఒక చిన్న యూనిట్‌ను పేషెంట్ వద్ద ఉంచి నోట్లోకి పైపు వేస్తే చాలు. ఆపరేషన్‌ను ఇక్కడ్నుంచే చేసే సౌలభ్యముంది’ అని చెప్పారు. దీనికోసం ప్రభుత్వంతో చర్చలు జరుపుతున్నామని తెలిపారు.

ఇండియన్ ఇన్‌స్టిట్యూట్ టెక్నాలజీ (హైదరాబాద్), ఇండియన్ ఇన్‌స్టిట్యూట్ ఆఫ్ సైన్స్(బెంగళూరు), డిపార్ట్‌మెంట్ ఆఫ్ సైన్స్ అండ్ టెక్నాలజీలు తమకు సహకారమందించాయని తెలిపారు. భారత్‌లో వెయ్యి మంది మాత్రమే గ్యాస్ట్రోఎంటరాలజీ వైద్యులున్నారని, వీరికి ఈ ప్రక్రియపై నాలుగైదు వారాల శిక్షణనిస్తే రోబో శస్త్రచికిత్సలు చేయవచ్చునని పేర్కొన్నారు. సింగపూర్ జాతీయ విశ్వవిద్యాలయ ఆస్పత్రి, యూనివర్శిటీ ఆఫ్ మేరీ లాండ్(అమెరికా), నన్యాంగ్ టెక్నలాజికల్ యూనివర్శిటీ(సింగపూర్) తదితర సంస్థలు ఈ ప్రయోగానికి సహకరించినట్టు తెలిపారు. భారతదేశంలో ముఖ్యం గా ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్‌లాంటి రాష్ట్రాల్లో ఈ ఆధునిక ప్రక్రియ అందుబాటులోకి వస్తే ఎంతోమందికి ఉపయోగపడుతుందని సింగపూర్‌కు చెందిన వైద్యులు డాక్టర్ లూయిస్ ఫీ అన్నారు. ఈ సమావేశంలో ఏఐజీఈ వైద్యులు డా.జి.వి.రావు, డా.ప్రదీప్ తదితరులు పాల్గొన్నారు. ఈ రోబో శస్త్రచికిత్సలను ఐఐటీ హైదరాబాద్ డెరైక్టర్ ఉదయ్ బి.దేశాయ్ ప్రారంభించారు.

రోబోటిక్ సర్జరీ ఇలా...

ఎండోస్కోపీ సర్జరీలో ఇన్నాళ్లూ కోత ద్వారానే శస్త్రచికిత్సలు జరిగేవి. ‘ఫ్లెక్సిబుల్ ఎండోస్కోపీ రోబోటిక్ సర్జరీ’లో అలా ఉండదు. ఆ శస్త్రచికిత్సలో భాగంగా.. ముందుగా నోట్లోకి ఓ పైపును పంపిస్తారు. అనంతరం రోబో యంత్రానికి అమర్చి ఉండే ఓ చిన్నపాటి వైరుకు మొనదేలిన రోబోటిక్ పరికరాన్ని(6 మిల్లీమీటర్లు ఉంటుంది) అమర్చి, పైపు ద్వారా కడుపులోకి పంపిస్తారు. దీనికి కెమెరా అమర్చి ఉంటుంది. ఈ కెమెరా కడుపులోని చిత్రాలను కంప్యూటర్‌లో చూపిస్తుంటుంది. యంత్రానికి అనుసంధానించిన కంప్యూటర్ పర్యవేక్షణ ద్వారా వైద్యులు కావాల్సిన చోట గడ్డలు లేదా కణితులను తొలగిస్తారు. కిడ్నీలో రాళ్లు లేదా కాలేయానికి కణితులు వంటివాటికి దీని ద్వారానే చికిత్స జరుపుతారు. ఈ శస్త్రచికిత్స వల్ల రోగికి ఎక్కువగా నొప్పి ఉండదు. ఎక్కువ రోజులు విశ్రాంతి తీసుకోవడం వంటివి ఉండనే ఉండవు. ఈ రోబో ధర రూ. 6 కోట్లు.
