Punita Arora

Punita Arora is the first woman in India to get the rank of Lieutant General of Indian Armed Forces and the first Vice admiral of Indian Navy. She is also the first woman in the Indian Army to reach a three-star position. She has been also awarded with 15 medals in her 36 years of career in Indian Armed Forces.

Archana Tyagi Sharma

Archana Tyagi Sharma is currently posted as DIG, CISF, Airport Zone, Mumbai. She is one of the eminent police officers with the Maharashtra cadre. She prefers herself to be called as a good police officer instead of a good 'lady' police officer. It was not so easy for her to choose a hardcore profession but she has proved herself as tough as a cop required to be. Presently, Tyagi handles the west region of the city and she is first woman to hold this post. Archana commands a force of 20 police stations, three DCPs, 10 ACPs, 500 officers and 4,000 constables.

Meira Kumar

An IFS officer by profession, Meira was a Cabinet Minister in the Ministry for Social Justice and Empowerment in 2004-2009. In 2009, Meira Kumar became the country's first woman and als o the first Dalit Speaker of the Lok Sabha and was elected unopposed. Meira is a five-time Lok Sabha MP.

Nirupama Rao

Nirupama Rao is the Foreign Secretary of India. On August 2011, she will become the Ambassador of India to the United States of America. She became the second woman to hold the post of Indian Foreign Secretary, the head of Indian Foreign Service.

Krushna Patil

Krushna Patil is the youngest Indian and the first Maharashtrian woman to conquer the Everest at the age of 19. She has also conquered the Seven Summits of the world. It was not so easy for her and there was no proper encouragement from people but after her journey people with a changing attitude were ready to appreciate her.

Dr. Sunitha Krishnan, born in 1969, is an Indian social activist and chief functionary and co-founder of Prajwala, an institution that assists trafficked women and girls in finding shelter. The organization also helps pay for the education of five thousand children infected with HIV/AIDS in Hyderabad.[1] Prajwala’s “second-generation” prevention program operates in 17 transition centers and has served thousands of children of prostituted mothers. The NGO’s strategy is to remove women from brothels by giving their children educational and career opportunities. Krishnan and her staff train survivors in carpentry, welding, printing, masonry and housekeeping.
