Slowly but surely, the Congress leaders from Rayalaseema are coming out with their true intentions and pouring out their pent-up anger against coastal Andhra leaders.

A common thread in the arguments being put forward by some of the leading Rayalaseema politicians is that if the division of the state becomes inevitable, then they would not like to be clubbed with coastal Andhra region at any cost. This means it has be a three-way split.

“As of now, we are committed to united Andhra Pradesh. But, if the UPA government takes a decision in favour of bifurcation, then we will put forward our set of demands very strongly. The first and foremost among them is that we cannot live with coastal Andhra people,” the minister T G Venkatesh said.

If the Centre grants a financial package to Telangana, then it must extend a similar package to Rayalaseema as well. “Ours is the most backward region in the state. We deserve a better package,” Venkatesh said.

Another minister from Rayalaseema Dr D L Ravindra Reddy said that if the division becomes inevitable, then a “Greater Rayalaseema” should be formed by clubbing parts of Nellore and Prakasam districts in coastal Andhra.
