Teacher who threatened suicide for Telangana missing

HYDERABAD/MEDAK: The whereabouts of a government school teacher, who threatened to commit suicide in support of separate Telangana state, are not known since August 4.

K Ramesh Goud, 40, disappeared ever since he announced that he would commit suicide in front of the state legislative assembly on September 1 if the Centre does not grant the separate T-state by then. A teacher in Manoharabad government primary school, Goud even faxed a letter to a vernacular daily a few days ago on his intentions to commit suicide.

Goud, who hails from Toopran, was actively supporting the T-movement in the last two years, sources said. Though no complaint has been lodged, the family members are worried over his whereabouts.

Sources said his late father Narsaiah, a freedom fighter, had dreamt of a separate Telangana state. "Goud wanted to follow his father's footsteps and fight for the T-state," sources said.

Siddipet TRS MLA Harish Rao along with other party leaders called on the family members in Toopran and appealed to Goud to return home. "Suicide is not the solution to achieve the separate state. We are appealing to Goud to come back and fight for the cause," Harish Rao said.
