KCR's 8 years Vs Lagadapati's decision

Its been 8 long years since KCR started the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) party, whose primary goal is to achieve separate Telangana state. The journey of TRS party all these years has been quite dramatical. The party has seen both highs and lows during its 8 year struggle. KCR has been successful in leading the Telangana movement, by gathering the support of NRIs, students, employees and intellectuals of Telangana region. All these years, the Telangana movement never had any widespread opposition from the people of Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema. Even the Congress high command expected a smooth ending to the Telangana agitation. TRS activists rejoiced the decision of Congress party to initiate the process of Telangana. KCR ended his 11 day fast and thanked Sonia Gandhi, and students for supporting the demand of separate Telangana state.

It looked like KCR's 8 year long struggle will be victorious. But the decision of Lagadapati to resign his MP post changed all the equations. Widespread agitations for United Andhra Pradesh were seen in all parts of Andhra and Rayalaseema. The MLAs of Andhra and Seema felt the heat of the people from their respective constituencies and started resigning. Never in the history of Andhra Pradesh such deep political crisis was seen. Protests continued in all parts of Andhra and Seema lead by student groups with the support of their local leaders.

The momentum which KCR got in Telangana was a result of his 8 years of struggle, but Lagadapati managed to ignite the momentum with his single decision of resignation to his Lok Sabha membership. Will both the struggles mitigate and end the turmoil in Andhra Pradesh or will these movements take a new dimension has to be watched.
