A common joke among friends is “It is time to get married. How long can one be happy?” and though there is an element of truth in it, marriage eventually happens.


What I am about to say might just sound as blasphemy. But if you look at it closely and understand my essence then I can say you will agree with me. Well, I am talking about the link between marriage and politics. I feel that marriage is a disqualification for politics.

It is simple, all married politicians are going for highest level of corruption. Usually when there is family or heirs the desire to earn more is high. One wants to ensure that their future generations don’t suffer and have enough. In this process, those in power don’t hesitate to use their seat to make some hot cash and secure their family’s future. But it is this family sentiment which has got them doing terrible and disgraceful things rendering the whole system useless.

Down the line, there should be a rule that unmarried people only can become politicians and get into politics. If Anna Hazare had a family, even he would have done it maybe. Here are some classic examples of benefits of not marrying and getting into politics- Narendra Modi, Naveen Patnaik, Vajpayee, Anna Hazare. All are branded as less or no corrupted politicians. The reason is simple- for whom will they earn? If they had a family then it would have instigated them to get into corruption.

So, my point of view is Family is making things corrupted in politics. I don’t say one should never get married but when it comes to politics, certain norms must be incorporated in such a way that unmarried individuals get the maximum preference. Or else, politics becomes family business and thanks to the corrupted upbringing, even the new age generation of politician kids end up becoming like their elders and perhaps a step more corrupted.

hmmmm this is not completely right..... indians are more sensitive towards relations. they care more about their children and relatives.... like said in a movie indians are sentimental fool..... we cant blame whole marriage system for this.... this has to happen from oneself when coming into public service.
