No. One will never go and clean in the example you provided 'instinctively'. It WILL only be done because you were 'told/taught/brought-up' from/by the society/cultural value system. One wont be interested to think of 'others' if they are clean or not. I will clean it in my home or in the vicinity I live, when I can't tolerate it and that is purely for MY survival. You may say that it benefits the society. But it is unnecessary/invalid to see it that way because I would never have done it for others.

And if there is a self and selfishness, it is only one kind whether one is conscious of it or not.
