10 things AP’s Congress voters want Sonia and Rahul Gandhi to know

1. When we voted your party to absolute majority in 2009 we did so on the plank of a United Andhra Pradesh. The separatists who are now agitating have lost in that polls. We, the people of Andhra Pradesh have delivered a verdict. And in our hearts we know that like Mrs Indira Gandhi did, you will always stand by to uphold the verdict of the people of A.P

2. When we voted your party to power in the GHMC elections we did so on the premise that Hyderabad is the capital of ANDHRA PRADESH and NOT Telengana. The separatists did neither have the desire in their hearts nor the depth in their ranks to even contest (let alone win) a single seat in GHMC.

3. The development that has occurred in Hyderabad over the past 40 years has been due to the joint efforts of all the people of Andhra Pradesh. Please do not listen to opportunistic politicians who tell you otherwise. Authorize the Registrar of Companies to submit a report on the percentage of industries floated by different regions of the people in the state in the city of Hyderabad. The investment figures will speak for themselves.

4. Also have the employment records of various IT and non-IT companies in Hyderabad examined. You will be surprised to know that there is a greater percentage of Telengana youth employed in these companies as opposed to the youth from all other regions of Andhra combined. Please do not get swayed by the separatists’ propaganda that Telengana youth are being deprived of jobs. We the voters advise you to examine the facts, which will undoubtedly indicate the exact opposite to be true.

5. Examine the contribution of taxes made by people, investors of various regions of the state into the city of Hyderabad. In that light also examine how that revenue has gone onto promote and enrich the contributions made towards art, literature, cuisine and culture by people from various regions of the state. The separatists are asking for a demand that will tear apart this rich, diverse socio-economic fabric.

6. The relationship of the AP voters with the Nehru-Gandhi family has been built over a trust that goes back to sixty-odd years. Even during the days following the emergency the voters of A P were the first to welcome Mrs Indira Gandhi into their fold. Our late CM Dr.YSR was till his last breath an ardent devotee of your husband (and Rahul ji, your father) the late P M Shri Rajiv Gandhi. Even while the separatists had over the years abused your family in unprintable language, our Rajanna stood by the principles of Indiramma and Rajiv ji. Against all odds he inspired us the voters to stand by the same principles. We did. And gave you 33 MPs.

7. In direct contrast are the separatists who are trying to be fair weather friends to your son Rahul Gandhi. They have the audacity to think that they can achieve statehood through power campaigns in Delhi. They are sending a message that the Congress party ONLY listens to lobbyists and not to the people. With their machinations they are giving an impression to the voters that all their devious acts have your blessings. We know that it is not the case. It is time that they know too. Put them in their place Madam.

8. We the voters urge you to set up a commission on the intelligence lapses that occurred in the state from the time a separatist leader went on fast. The commission should among other things probe the infiltration into the OU campus and the reports that went from here to Delhi on the peace march scheduled on the 10th of December. It should also examine the intelligence that was submitted to the PMO about the exaggerated security threat perception conveyed to your office.

9. We the voters also urge you to see for yourself the fact that developmental imbalances are widespread across several districts in Andhra Pradesh. A separatist agenda is not the solution to that problem. The path that your party and Rajanna initiated, a path of welfare and development, is THE only answer. The separatists through their self-centric pursuit of power have put your welfare and development schemes on the back burner.

10. Rahul ji, ignore the MPs who tell you what you want to listen; instead we the voters of A P invite you for a tour into all the 23 districts. Examine the situation first hand. More than anything else, we invite you to experience the genuine love that we share for our state. Feel the anguish that we are undergoing. Give us assurance and hope that in unity lies strength. Once that connect is made, we will never leave you, and each other.
