A week after Ajith’s 50th film, Mankatha’s release, two of its lead actresses are at loggerheads over who stole the limelight. Trisha was paired up opposite Ajith and although her role was small, the actress was more than happy to sign the film since she shares a good rapport with Ajith and director Venkat Prabhu. Meanwhile, Lakshmi Rai had a meaty role in the film and was also praised by audience and some reviewers in Tamil Nadu for her performance. However, things turned ugly when she told a leading newspaper that Venkat Prabhu had approached her first to play the lead role opposite Ajith and later she opted for another role when Trisha entered the picture. However, both Venkat Prabhu and Trisha have refuted these claims. Venkat Prabhu was quoted as saying that he never offered Lakshmi Rai the role which he had written for Trisha and also added that he had no clue why Lakshmi Rai seems to think otherwise.
Whatever maybe the case, the incident has brought two lead actresses of a successful film trying to hog the limelight. The film (Mankatha) has been dubbed as ‘Gambler’ in Telugu and it’s going to release tomorrow in AP.
