But, here, the police allegedly fired on people praying in the mosque.A bullet came from nowhere during the indiscriminate firing which hit him in the right eye, just after he completed his Asar namaz in the Jama Masjid mosque at Gopalpura. He alleged that the police fired indiscriminately in the mosque and hurt many people.He lost vision in his right eye. Had the bullet hit the skull, it could have pierced his brain. Haroon was lucky, unlike others , who died in the "indiscriminate firing" .Haroon also alleged that the police treated them like criminals . He is now safe and undergoing treatment at the SMS Hospital here along with eight others who had a close shave with death. "My head could have been blown off. By a couple of centimetres, the bullet missed my vital parts but it hit my eye," Haroon said, who was brought to the hospital from Bharatpur early on Thursday.Recalling the incident, Haroon said,"Suddenly after Asar prayer around 5.30 pm, police barged into the mosque when most of the people were busy praying. They were accompanied by some local residents.""Earlier, they fired tear-gas shells at the mosque. It created panic and then the police 'sprayed' bullets on the people in the mosque. One of the bullets hit my right eye. I became unconscious," Haroon said.At least 20-25 people might have died and many could have been burnt, he added. The relatives of the injured said around eight to 10 shops were set on fire.Also, 25-year-old Javed, like Haroon, sustained a bullet injury, and is fighting for his life at the ICU of the hospital . His condition is critical and the doctors had to operate on him.Hospital superintendent L C Sharma said, "The bullet passed through his stomach.
