Well It would be better if the whole context was taken into discussion ,,

I don't think if this was his direct opinion as a whole... something like a Research aspect might be going on in his mind and now-a-days we are not seeing any new Research related issues from IIT , as good as we used to see the Quality of work from the IITs in the 80s & 90s... also in the early 2000s::


also another big thing is.. The Students appearing for IIT are not purely like those hard-working Individuals from the Previous generations.. now - a -days Getting into IIT is not about your skill and hardwork..
but also about the college youa re doing the +1. +2.... and the preperation for Clearing an exam , rather than the interest towards a Subject...
