Jambhalheart Posted October 8, 2011 Report Posted October 8, 2011 A tiff over a seat in the general compartment of Palnadu Express took a regional turn when a group from Nalgonda district thrashed two passengers from Guntur district. According to one of the victims, Y Ramesh of Bapatla, the trouble started when one youth blocked a seat in the bogie by putting a kerchief, which was resisted by other passengers. The youth, however, refused to budge. After some argument, Ramesh forcefully occupied the seat. When the youth tried to attack Ramesh, other passengers interfered and even scolded him. The youth reportedly called his friends over phone and told them that people from coastal region attacked him and asked them to come to Nalgonda station. When the train reached Nalgonda, at around 7pm, about 25 people, raising Telangana slogans, entered the general compartment and thrashed Ramesh and another person from Sattenapalle. The attackers reportedly warned the victims that people from coastal region would meet the same fate if they continue to harass ‘Telangana people’. Ramesh was on his way to Bapatla from Hyderabad. A visibly upset Ramesh refused to talk to the media about the incident.
