In a shocking incident, a die-hard fan of actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi killed his father for not casting his vote for the superstar's newly formed Praja Rajyam Party (PRP). The incident took place in Visakhapatnam district in coastal Andhra after the first phase of polling Thursday but came to light Saturday.

The police said Kosuru Rajubabu, a labourer in Acchampet, became angry after learning that his 55-year-old father Kosuru Bullabbai cast his vote for Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and stabbed him to death Thursday night.
Rajubabu, 23, with the help of few villagers buried his father on the village outskirts the same night and the next day told the people that he died a natural death. The villagers, however, grew suspicious and one of them informed the police.
The police arrested Rajubabu, who confessed that he murdered his father for not voting for PRP. A police officer said further investigations were on.
Rajubabu is said to be an ardent fan of superstar Chiranjeevi since his childhood and had been campaigning for PRP launched by the actor recently.
His father was a supporter of legendary actor NT Rama Rao and the TDP founded by him.
The father and son had a heated argument before the polling about whom to vote for.
Rajubabu tried to convince his father that he support the PRP. Bullabbai was adamant on voting for TDP. He later agreed to his son's suggestion and promised to vote for the PRP.
After the voting, Rajubabu was enraged when his father told him that he voted for the TDP.
The two had another round of heated argument and the son killed his father the same night.
In Andhra Pradesh, especially in the coastal region, popular Telugu actors enjoy the status of demi-gods. The fan following of superstars like late NTR and Chiranjeevi border on madness.
Chiranjeevi, who launched the PRP last year, hails from West Godavari district in the coastal Andhra.
