Infosys' New Hiring Strategy In Us To Focus On Locals

IT major Infosys has tweaked its hiring strategy in the US. Over 60 per cent of the company's revenues come from North America. Infosys is now looking to recruit either locals or green card holders for its onsite operations in the US.

Senior vice president and group head of human resources Nandita Gurjar recently relocated to the US to oversee the transition. Accordingly, 86 per cent recruits in last six months were non-visa dependent employees.

The remaining 14 per cent visa dependent hires are on H1B as well as other visas. In contrast, non-visa dependent employees stood at 62 per cent in first half of last fiscal.

The H-1B is a non-immigrant visa that allows US employers to temporarily employ foreign workers in specialty occupations. More than 60 per cent of the annual quota of 65,000 H1B visas is used by India.[color=#000000][left]
Infosys plans to hire 1,500 people in the US this fiscal and hopes to have 50 per cent locals in onsite locations over the next few years.[color=#000000][/color][/left][/color][/left]
