Suresh Babu - Long Dussehra Break Helped `dookudu'

The Telugu film industry has been on a high after a long time, with two recent releases `Dookudu' and `Oosaravelli' doing well. `Dookudu' has done better than `Magadheera' overseas though it lagged behind a bit in Nizam and Andhra regions.
With many schools and colleges closed because of Telangana bandh, more students flocked to watch `Dookudu'. Many offices also not working due to the agitation, meant it was an extended Dussehra holiday and translated into decent collections for the film, especially in the cities. However, in smaller towns, where filmgoers depend on bus as a mode of transport, there was a 25-30 per cent dip in collections.

Unlike last year, where Telangana agitators had prevented the release of certain films starring particular heroes, this year, fortunately the industry faced no such problems. That is also because the industry has not taken any stand, for or against. Also let us remember that even people in the movement like to watch movies starring these stars.

There have been some minor issues though. For my film `Eega' I had scheduled a three-day shoot on the Outer Ring Road in Hyderabad but with frequent bandhs etc, we decided to relocate to Bangalore and finished the shoot there.
