I always cherished rain. I love the sweet fragrance of mud and grass ,the tinkling sound of rain, the cool breeze which sways around. Its always difficult for me to sit inside locked when it rains. My house cannot see the face of outside world except through the balcony, that’s what I get for living in an apartment. That’s my abode whenever I hear a tiny drop of water falling from the heavenly sky. I grab a mug of coffee or a plate of pakoras and drag my chair all along to the balcony and sit there for eternity sipping my coffee and feeling the breeze the drizzles of water splashing my face.

It was one such beautiful day .It was drizzling and that was my cue to go to my abode. I’ve poured a cup of coffee in my fav chocolate colored mug with sweet teddies on it and was watching around.Beside my building there is a free space where the kids around come to play .These wonderful kids are so about the happening sports that they play football during the world cup ,IPL inspires them to cricket and whenever Saina wins a match next day you can see them with rackets. But today the rain has prevented them from coming out. It was empty with mud pools forming rather slowly to a large puddles.
It was while watching these pools that I saw this cute little doggie which was drenching and walking across the ground .It was a white Pomeranian and looked quite young. It seemed like it was searching for its mama. Poor fellow was lost and stuck in rain. It was bobbing its head to get rid of falling water droplets and moaning softly for its failed attempts to look for shelter. I was watching it go around and around looking for something to save itself.
Its sweet face and the way it moved its cute little head has grasped my complete attention. Its so adorable walking slowly and tumbling down which is still in the process of learning to walk. I couldn’t bear to watch that little one in the rain. There was a small room at the corner of the ground where the next building generators are kept. Finally the puppy noticed this but it was far across the ground. It took all its energy and started jogging and jumping not able to contain its joyous mood for finding a shelter. I was elated to this discovery at least it could get rid of rain.
With all this happiness I didn’t notice a rather large puddle which looked deep enough to swallow the little one on the way .The doggie unaware of this was dancing towards it. I tried to call it, shouted but I am too far above for it to hear. I was leaning across the balcony wall shouting and calling for it but still it was jogging not hearing me .I was terrified for the puppy who was dancing happily towards a dangerous abyss.
I started thinking of all the options I have…. I couldn’t possibly run for it, it’s too far and would take at least 3 minutes as I’ve to run around the building and the ground to get there, shouting for the watchman dint help . I was so frustrated that I was grasping my mug tighter till it hurts. It was then an idea clicked. Why don’t I throw something between them to stop its advance. Without searching for anything I threw the thing I had in my hand my fav mug. It fell on the way between the puddle and the doggie. As something suddenly fell before it splashing the mud the doggie came to a sudden halt. That was what I wanted. It was afraid of my mug with a teddy on it and instead of walking forward it walked the other direction. It went away from the puddle towards the path leading to shelter without mud pools and finally got under it.
I was so relaxed and happy for the cute little puppy, except that my teddy mug couldn’t survive the fall. The rain subsequently subsided and I ran instantly to the ground to get the puppy. Now it would never ever again go through a dangerous route.This cute little one has replaced my rain mate the teddy on the mug. Now Halo and I play in the balcony every time it rains. I would always remember what happened once upon a time on a rainy day.
