He is the hero who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty having successfully interrupted the terrorists group who tried to penetrate from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir through Kishanganga River on August 2011. He was commanding the unit and in a fierce encounter and firefight, his unit killed 12 terrorists and recovered arms, ammunition and high quantity of war like stores. He was the first who took on the militant and killed 3 of them in the first round of exchange of fire. When one of his buddy got injured, he tried to reach out to save him and was caught in the fire. Facing serious injuries, he went down fighting till his last breath upholding the values and spirit of in Indian Army. ‘Service before Self’ He was an MBA graduate but chose to fight for his nation and made the ultimate sacrifice. ROUDRAM Posted October 25, 2011 Report Posted October 25, 2011 His grandfather Ajit Singh is a veteran of the 1965 war and his father, Honorary Lieutenant Joginder Singh, had retired from the army as a subedar major and is currently re-employed with the Military Engineer Services.
