The QUEEN Posted November 2, 2011 Report Posted November 2, 2011 good to know something from ManuCharitra, but the one can also understand this meaning "Shuklaam Baradharam Vishnum Shashi Varnam Chaturbuhjam Prasanna Vadanam Dhyaayet Sarva Vighno Pashaantaye Agajaa Aanana Padmaarkam Gajaananam Aharnisham Anekadantam Bhaktaanaam Ekadantam Upaasmahe"
vikramII Posted November 3, 2011 Author Report Posted November 3, 2011 i doubt if there would be difference even translated by indian; well if possible i would learn sanskrit ( i know some sanskrit from school). i touched boss topic as you were saying that we are not equals in relation to the caste system. the entire problem is you are assuming that manusmriti gave an exception in the sense that people are free from their birth caste depending on their excellence in a diff profession and i am not agreeing that. actually i grew-up listening to the quotes of manu now and then that formed the basis. but, anyways lets leave it here. my intention is not that we all should start buying and burning manusmriti . i believe that caste system is not doing any good and still it is pulling back india. i just wanted more people to know it. since i believed manusmriti is used as a basis for this caste system i used burn the mansumriti to imply the necessity to reject present caste system. thank you ! kidmakers Posted November 3, 2011 Report Posted November 3, 2011 If things stayed the same as they were said in Manusmruthi, this arugument wud never even have seen light. But, the thing is - with ages becoming upon us, we(the people) changed the contents and gave them false understandings and created the society taht we are today living in. Of all the 1000 people who talk about that holy book, i bet not even 1%, i.e. 10 guys wud ve read the book. So, first enlighten ur self by getting deep into the understandings of those holy scriptures and still if you want to burn 'em, go n get ur copy and burn them guys.. that doesn't change anything present in today's society... moreover, it exposes ur ignorance and people will neglect you for ur next move.. all the best..

[/quote] if you follow the thread properly you know that i read the book before you posted here anything. inaddition to that i formed opinion against depending upon quotes of the book quoted by our own indians( family friends) who were fond of manusmriti . the book i read matched their quotes. that translation and the book is provided by some university. so it should be credible. even to maintain clarity i left the link also in the thread. if you think manusmriti is so venerable and i am doing so much nonsense you can check that link it is not that big. and if you check the youtube link and the comments below you can understand that i posted this video with this title long before florida pastor talked about burning quran. so i am not inspired by someone calling for burning something. and burning a book is not my goal even. well, in my last post clarified that i am not saying that go buy and burn a manusmriti , but to tell that caste system is still.... well , before saying put some brains, it would be nice if you check the thread properly. and moreover manusmriti is not a holybook, bhagavadgita is the holy book for us. manusmriti is just a book about social order ( social codes) mixed with religios rigors, its nothing about god....so dont worry about holiness....its completely about humans... well good to see people with good comments, thanks
