10000 years is not quoted in Valmiki Ramayanam... (Lot of other things that the movies reference from Ramayanam are not quoted in the original version... like Lava-Kusa parvam, post-Pattabhishekha-Rama rajya, and many pitta kathas like sudra pooja creating untimely death in kingdom are not from original version. They came from versions like Molla Ramayanam (Telugu) and so on...) It only narrates until Sri Rama Pattabhisekham... But this original Ramayana version says that Rama (human but incarnation of Lord Vishnu) lived in Treta Yugam. Now we are living in Kali Yugam (the shortest of all Yugas). . Since we are in the last padam of Kali Yuga, we are roughly 43, 20, 000 years post Rama's period... The error in the quoted number is the number of years from today to Pralayam. Universe is created, destroyed once every 4.1 to 8.2 billion years, which is one full day (day and night) for Brahma. The lifetime of a Brahma himself may be 311 trillion and 40 Billion years. Our Anjaneya Swamy is navama Brahma (ninth such Brahma)

GUNTUR2US Posted October 31, 2011 Report Posted October 31, 2011
thanks for the info....when did kali-yuga started? if so can we calculated the end of this yugam....
I can't answer that question. But would like to say some related story. The beginning of Kali Yuga is marked by Sri Krishna Niryana ghattam. Sri Krishna Niryana ghattam: After Mahabharatha parvam, Sri Krishna lost his entire Yadhava dynasty due to Gandhari saapam. One day he was resting in shade of a big tree and leisurely moving his leg. He was shot by a poacher for that scene was mistaken by him as some animal. The poacher found what has happened and started to grieve. Sri Krishna told him not to., since the following reason. The poacher was Vaali in Ramayanam. In Ramayanam, Vaali was killed by Rama with ambush. Karmanusare Falitha! Even Rama was not exception. Hence this form of Niryanam. Courtesy: My late. grandmother who told me several such tales during my childhood and made my primary school days at Vizianagaram always remembered.
