According to me the definition of caste feeling is "Judging a person by his caste rather than what he is".

Every person in this world has unique nature and character. A person of certain features (nature, character, wealth, intellect etc) can be found in any corner of the world, in any country, in any religion and in any community. That person should be understood and judged by what he is rather than to what community he belongs to. If you are making certain assumptions about that person because he belongs to certain community then you have caste feeling (we can also call regional feeling, religional feeling etc).

For example,
Aggarwals belong to marwadi caste. If you see any person with last name aggarwal and think he is a miser person then you have caste feeling.
and
Vaishyas caste are traditionally business community. The moment you meet a vaishya person and if you think he must be a businessman and rich, then you have caste feeling.

Brahman's have been traditionally well educated. If you meet a brahmin and think he must be a intelligent person then you have caste feeling.

Jewish people are usually very rich. If you meet a jew and immediately think he is a rich guy, then you have caste feeling (or religious bias)

Taliban and other terrorists are all muslims. If you ever meet a muslim and immediately think he has some sympathy with terrorists then you have another form of caste feeling (religious bias again)

Lots of crimes and stealing have been associated with blacks in USA. If you meet a black guy and begin have a bias that he must be a bad guy then you have another form of caste feeling (or racial bias).

Coming closer to telugu land, NTR and Naidu are chowdaries. So the moment you meet a chowdary you think he is a TDP supporter.

Again KCR is a velama, so the moment you meet a velama person you will assume that he must be a telangana supporter.



These are the few examples I could come up with. This is what I believe is the crux of caste feeling, i.e. equating a person from particular community with certain characteristic traits. It exits in the whole world in some form or other. Unfortunately it exists among we Indians and especially among telugus in even more severe form. Even educated people are not immune from such biases.

Supporting people from your own caste is actually the side effect of this above trait. The moment somebody from your caste is shown in a bad color, you immediately become defensive and starts supporting him. It is not just because of you love and respect your caste but also because you begin to fear that you will also be judged badly because someone else's fault.

So the caste feeling is a two way traffic. It starts from you as well as from the society who wants to know your caste more that what you really are.

To finish it,
1)one should stop supporting people of their own caste blindly
2)And you should stop judging another person purely out of his caste. You should be interested in who the person is then what his caste is.
