Only Second Src: Congress Makes It Clear!

New Delhi, Nov 9: Congress party has made its stand clear on formation of smaller states by saying Second States Reorganization Commission (SRC) must be formed to address various demands in this regard, including Telangana.

Addressing a press conference in Delhi today, Congress official spokesperson and Rajya Sabha member from the state, Rashid Alwi said it is the party’s policy. Stating that there were several demands for smaller states in the country, he said the second SRC should be set up to consider all such proposals together. When questioned about statehood for Telangana, he said it is not an exception.

The party has this policy after due consideration of all such issues and also the interest of the country. Asked about the time frame for setting up of the second SRC, he refused to elaborate further. The statement has gained significance as the state party affairs in charge Gulam Nabi Azad had already indicated that the party would announce its stand on Telangana soon.
