I don't think there is a single prophet in Hinduism. Hinduism believes in universal unity. There are many gods and goddesses in this religion, but not a single one that can be called a "prophet." That is why it is different from other religions like Christianity and Islam because they have prophets, and some even misinterpret what that prophet said. In Hinduism, though, you have many ideas, which allows you to choose and make your own decision of right and wrong.

* ** *** "worship different deities(Gods)" seems to equate deities with God. Hinduism believes in monotheism and the various deities represent different attributes of the one and same God. Attributes like God the merciful, God the powerful etc.

Hinduism is an all-encompassing term that attempts to lump together many different varying beliefs. Different groups within Hinduism worship different deities (Gods)... some worship Ganesha, or Shiva, or Kali... the list goes on. Many groups are under the guidance of a guru (swami or sage) that acts as a spiritual teacher. It is believed that the guru has a connection with God and can lead their followers according to the directions they receive from God. Gurus are much like prophets.

Prophets in other religion are said to transmit 'Word of God' to humanity.
But Hindu's believes Veda to be the 'Word of God'. According to Hindu tradition, the Vedas are apauruseya "not human compositions", being supposed to have been directly revealed, and thus are called sruti("what is heard").

Hindu do believe in avatar (incarnation) of God on to this Earth. The Sanskrit word avatฤra- literally means "descent" (avatarati) and usually implies a deliberate descent into lower realms of existence for special purposes.

idi copy paste :P

Hindu scriptures don't specify anyone as prophet, Hindu scriptures like vedas, upanishads are written by various great sages and no one knows their names. Hindu's Holy book Bhagawat Gita was revealed to Krishna from God. If we have to consider somebody as prophet from hinduism, It could be Rama or Krishna.
