Even before his first release, another big opportunity came in search of him. He is chosen to play Abhishek Bachchan’s co-star in Bollywood producer Cum director Rohan Sippy’s gritty, hard-hitting film on the drug racket in Goa. Rana’s role in the film is said to be as powerful as Abhishek’s.The role was initially offered to Farhan Akhtar and Emraan Hashmi, but later filmmakers opined that Rana would best fit the bill. All this happened when the Sippys saw Rana’s hard-hitting political thriller, ‘Leader.’Rana will now be another South Indian actor trying his luck in Hindi films after the likes of Kamal Haasan. Rajnikant and Rana’s uncle, Venkatesh (who was launched opposite Karisma Kapoor in ‘Anari’ by his father D Rama Naidu in 1993).
