Hyderabad, Feb 14: The fact that the Telangana issue that rocked the state during the last year, was not even mentioned in the Governor ESL Narasimhan’s address to the joint session of the legislature clearly showed the attitude of the government.

Serious doubts are being expressed by protagonists of Telangana, that the government wants to totally burry the issue.

Though every one is blaming the governor for not mentioning certain issues, all the political leaders including the TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu know that any governor just reads the speech prepared by the government and has no other choice. So, not mentioning Telangana issue was not a lapse of the governor,but a deliberate omission by the government.

The central government has several times in the history of Andhra Pradesh quelled the Telangana movements even when they took violent turns. This time around, though the agitation was not all that violent, the Sakala Janula Samme has totally stalled the government administration. Educational institutions were closed. Transport was brought to a total stand still. Still the Congress-led UPA government chose to drag the issue on, fixing one date after the other, for solution. AICC General Secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad said a solution would be announced after Bakrid. Some said after Sankranti, a solution would be found. Several festivals have come and gone. Not knowing what is happening in the minds of the top leaders of Congress and its chief Sonia Gandhi, leaders started guess work and were fixing different dates, to pacify the anxious, if not angry Telangana people.

Now with the government totally ignoring the Telangana issue in the Governor’s speech, it can be presumed that the matter is buried once for all.
