No one in state media properly educated the people of the state, how much is the gas found in the Godavari basin worth.

Is it big enough, to kill a CM of the state?

Is it big enough to take a risk and divide the state?

Reliance's gas reserves in its exploratory block KGDN-6, off Vishakapatnam, are to the tune of 40-50 million cubic metres per day and are expected to go up to 100 cubic metres of gas over a 10-year period.

Reliance's gas reserves are expected to feed the gas-starved country for almost a century. The firm will have to invest more than Rs 7,000 crore (Rs 70 billion) in extracting gas from the Krishna-Godavari basin.

Reliance Industries' gas discovery in the Krishna-Godavari basin is expected to change the energy supply economics in the country with the reserves estimated to be around 40 times bigger than that of the Bombay High field, and double the total gas production of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation.

what is discovered till now:

* 14 trillion cubic feet of gas by Reliance Industries in KG-DWN-98/l (KG-D6) in 2002.[1]
* 20 trillion cubic feet (5.7×1011 m3)cubic feet of gas by Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation in June 2005.[3]
* 20 trillion cubic feet (5.7×1011 m3) of gas at D-3 and D-9 blocks by Reliance Industries in May 2009. [4]
* 10 trillion cubic feet (2.8×1011 m3) of gas by ONGC in June 2009. [5]

INDIA has claimed its biggest gas discovery, a deposit in the Bay of Bengal that could double the country’s gas production and bring into question major projects to import liquefied natural gas into the country.

Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC), a state-owned enterprise, said that it had found 20 trillion cubic feet of gas in the Krishna Godavari Basin, an area offshore of Andhra Pradesh state in the southeast of the sub-continent.
