Ashok Gajapathi Raju, party State secretary Y. Ramana Murty and other leaders on Saturday cleaned RTC buses in protest against the steep hike in passenger fares. Demanding rollback of the hiked fares, Mr. Raju said that by increasing the fares the government burdened common man further. The steep hike, her said was implemented for the first time since the inception of the corporation in 1958. He criticized the Congress for ignoring the welfare of the poor.In a novel protest A.P. Panchayat Raj Chamber president M. Appala Naidu organised bullock cart rally from the RTC complex. Mr. Naidu that it was not proper to state that the corporation incurred losses due to bandhs and agitations. He demanded the government to recover the losses on account of incidents of bus burnings from the political parties concerned instead of burdening the people. He also demanded action against S.S.P. Yadav, MD of the corporation for making irresponsible statement.TDP activists led by Chittoor district convener Amarnatha Reddy, MP Siva Prasad, Bojjala Gopala Krishna Reddy and Muddu Krishnama Naidu cleaned buses in the bus station in protest against the increase in bus fares. They demanded that the government reduce the fares further and help the common man.
