Info at Sabarimala as of now:::

As many as 15 lakh people only from our state of Andhra Pradesh reached sabarimala to visit the makara jyothi and lord ayyapa
heavy rains made sabarimala sanitation worse
all the piligrims tht are reaching sabarimala hill are being stopped at pamba river  and the temple authorites are reuqesting them to see the makara jyothi from there itself
sabarimala hill reached its peak with the piligrims there
the temple board raised hands and said they no longer are helpful....

as many as 30 lakh people are about to be there to see the makara jyothi says temple board...

The Makara jyothi is going to be take place from ponnam bel place forest....

temple board made all the arrangements for the smooth darshan of ayyapa and piligrims

The Media and individuals who are sceptical of the Makarajyothi have disputed it. According to them the light is an artificial fire clandestinely lit by the officials of Sabarimala temple, the Travancore Devaswom Board and Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) in connivance with some of the forest and police officials. It is created by burning a large quantity of camphor cubes kept in a silver platter. Several correspondents have visited the hill station where the camphor-fire is lit is claimed to be in the control of the forest department of the Government of Kerala.[4][5]

It should be noted, however, that lighting large sacred fires for long-distance viewing is a ceremonial feature of a number of South India Temples, and has been performed by devotees for centuries. For example, the sacred mountain temple of Arunachalam, dedicated to Shiva, includes a similar ritual in which a fire is lit by ceremonial officials on the sacred mountain, and is then worshipped by viewers from far distances.

In the case of Arunachalam, it had always been quite explicit that humans were lighting the fire for ritual purposes. There has never been any pretense towards anything else in either the temple's literature or history. The flame at Arunachalam is lit in honor of goddess Ankalaparameshwari, and the pujaris who do this are members of the Cempatavar community. Thus, there has never been any controversy regarding the origin of the light there, in contrast to makarajyoti .

as far as i know it is the jyothi tht we can see is the one tht... all the gods will worship and will give harathi to ayyapaa... the tht harath iis shown to us.. which is we can see... this jothi is termed as MAKARA JYOTHI

and there is also other term Makaravillakku .. this one is the harathi given to the god by the poojaris... so no confusion btw makara jyothi and Makaravillakku

This is wht I know.....  makara jyothi is the harathi given to lord ayyapa by all other gods and tht is wht we can see....

the process started.... now tirunava bharanam decoration started... after this is completed poojaris give harathi called Makaravillakku  and after this harathi the Makara Jyothi appears...
