thunderstorm369 Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 The latest incident of a student’s death in OU campus in the name of Telangana has shocked everyone across the state. The incident occurred infront of Tagore Auditorium in Osmania University when a student named Venugopal committed suicide by immolating himself. He had left a suicide note where he demanded that Telangana state be formed immediately. Venugopal, a native of Suryapet, Nalgonda district, was studying MCA in Uppal, Hyderabad. Osmania JAC and other student organizations have expressed their condolences and appealed to the students across Telangana to boycott colleges to express their condolence for Venugopal. Telangana JAC and Osmania JAC have called for a Telangana bandh tomorrow, January 20th. Incidentally, the OU exams were supposed to start today as the OU management had decided not to disrupt the exam schedule any further. It remains to be seen if thisincident changes the equation between Osmania JAC and their appeal to postpone OU exams. At a time when it was agreed upon that all problems and demands can be solved through dialogue and intense discussions, thisincident is bound to intensify more protests in support of Telangana and bring more pressure on the Centre to declare Telangana without any further delay.
