With awareness building up among the audience and the need for variety, even the Tollywood folks have decided to pep up their promo activities and have been coming up with creative formats of publicity. While NTR jr released a calendar with his movie stills, victory Venkatesh went ahead and got special merchandise including kites for the promotion of his ongoing movie.

Sources say that this formula was there right from the days of ‘Mayabazaar’ when a calendar of the legendary NTR was sold like hot cakes. Also, the investment for such a thing would be relatively negligible (about 2-3 lakhs) compared to the expenses incurred on the posters, hoardings etc. (between Rs 25 lakhs to Rs 1.5 crores).

Not only that, the small screen circuit is also being used to a large extent with top stars taking part as celebrity guests, participating in talk shows, coming up with ‘meet the star’ campaigns. Also, the conventional formula of performing state wide tours along with the cast and crew is something that works.
