H-1B visas can well be given the tag of 'most controversial visas'. The controversies relating to them continue to rage year after year.

Almost, since last many years, every year sees a bill being introduced in the US house that attempt to penalise -- in some way or the other -- the companies using this visa.

In 2010, the US government increased H-1B and L-1 non-immigrant visa fees by as much as $2,000 per visa, a move apparently aimed at restricting companies from applying for the H-1b visas.

The 2011 also saw Indian IT companies complain about the increase in the rejection rate of H-1B visa applications.

While analysts term these acts as backlash against Indian IT, the stringent rules also result in many companies getting disqualified. In legal terms, a company faces debarment over what is seen as an H-1B abuse under US laws.
