తమ గెలుపును జగన్‌కు అంకితం చేస్తున్నట్లు వైఎస్‌ఆర్‌ కాంగ్రెస్‌ పార్టీ ఎమ్మెల్యేలు ప్రకటించారు. ఉప ఎన్నికల ఫలితాల అనంతరం పలువురు విజేతలు హైదరాబాద్ వచ్చారు. పార్టీ గౌరవ అధ్యక్షురాలు విజయమ్మను కలిసి అభినందనలు తెలిపారు. పార్టీ కార్యాలయ ఆవరణలోని దివంగత మహానేత వైఎస్‌ విగ్రహానికి పూలమాల వేసి నివాళులు అర్పించారు. ప్రజలంతా రాజన్న రాజ్యం కోరుకుంటున్నారని ఎమ్మెల్యేలు తెలిపారు. ఆ కల సాకారం చేయడమే తమ లక్ష్యమన్నారు.

When former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy was alive, his government’s slogan was: “Indiramma Rajyam, Intintaa Sowbhagyam” (Indiramma’s rule will bring prosperity to every house). Such was the reverence YSR had for Indira Gandhi family that he had named almost every scheme after Indira Gandhi or her son Rajiv Gandhi – whether it was Indira Kranthi Patham, Rajiv Arogyasri, Rajiv Gandhi International Airport etc.

In fact, the people, too, used to take Indira Gandhi’s name as a synonym for welfare. Even now, the old people still recall Indira Gandhi’s name.

However, after the death of Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, his son Y S Jaganmohan Reddy is making every effort to erase the memories of Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi. He is now trying to establish Rajasekhara Reddy as the new icon of welfare and development in place of Indira and Rajiv. His party leaders are now only talking about Rajanna Rajyam, rather than Indiramma Rajyam.

“The people now want Rajanna Rajyam. We will strive to achieve this goal. We dedicate our victory to Jagan,” the newly-elected YSR Congress party MLAs said, after garlanding the statue of YSR in the party office.
