whats ur take on intel going big on the servers (that stream media content) n tv box' do u think intel will ever get the market share of smartphone n tablet market that require low power consumption chips???
[/quote]

few years back aithe x86 would not have competed with ARM chips(qualcomm, nvidia, samsung,TI) in power/performance.

But as technology shrinks(45nm->30nm->22nm->14nm(2013)->9nm(2014)) X86 or intel can easily overthrow ARM architecture below 22nm and beyond. intel is always couple of years ahead of industry in terms of scaling the size..

So as technology shrinks intel becomes a double edged sword for both high performance and low power.. mainly due to its 2yrs lead in manufacturing and presence in market before competitors.

small power chips..always it has been Qualcom..and it will be the way for near future..

Intel shud not spend money and R&D on that ..it will be the story of Microsoft going against Apple...

rather I prefer them competing against Dell and HP...in Server Hardware.....for Data Centers....

chitti u r absolutely wrong. qualcomm may be a best selling smartphone or tablet SOC as of now.
But as time progresses even ARM applications need more CPU performance (A9 to A15 arm architecture there is almost 60% increase in performance or 30% in power). so as time goes intel(with high performance but aiming for low power) and ARM(with low power targeting performance) architectures intersect at a point where ARM's performance is hindered by lack of strong architecture but intel is not limited for achieving low power.

coming to qualcomm.. it doesn't hold strong patents in architecture design and they have the weakest memory interface architecture in industry. If it doesn't develop its own memory architecture by end 2013. Its all over for qualcomm. If you compare 2yrs back atom architecture(single core) present in current Intel medfield smartphone it easily outperforms qualcomm snapdragon S4 (dual core) in some scenarios.

so intel will be a dominant player for future in both smartphone, tablet and PC
