With no word from producer Vallabhaneni Vamsimohan on the release of the much-awaited film ‘Adhurs,’ the actor’s fans are growing restive. The film was to hit the screens on December 25, but the release was put off following attacks on some theatres in Telangana region. According to industry sources, efforts are on to release the film at least before January 7 but there is no certainty. Sources said the volatile political situation has not only put the producers and distributors on the tenterhooks, but has also spoilt the festive mood of film-goers, who were expecting a good number of film releases during Sankranti. According to industry information, arrangements have been made to release the film with more than 900 prints — 200 more than ‘Magadheera.’ Sources said the distributors have put in huge money on ‘Adhurs’ expecting huge returns during the festival season. While Magadheera was reported to have been sold out for Rs 1.5 crore in Krishna district and Rs 2.1 crore in Guntur, Adhurs went for Rs 1.8 crore in Krishna and Rs 2.3 crore in Guntur districts. “The distributors are very worried with the continued postponement of the film release as stakes are high. Their main worry is the impending losses if the film is not released before the festive season,” said former Film Censor Board member Jonnalagadda Ramchandra Sastry.
