because the word brush is a singular. Even though tooth and brush are two words it makes one thought. that means both words need to either be plural or singular. So it would either be teethbrushes or toothbrush

Long back there was no Tooth brush... only Chew stick which is used to clean a tooth at a time.. later
a twig with a frayed end used to brush each tooth, one at a time. Hence the name toothbrush. and still the name is struck same
