60 years for EC of India

The election commission of India is celebrating it's diamond jubilee year in 2010. The celebrations kicked off today in the presence of top politicians in the country. The funny thing is the country's top leadership expressed their concern over malpractices ranging from money and muscle power to paid news syndrome vitiating the electoral process. One thing these top leaders forgot is they are responsible for the current mess in our electoral process.

The Prime Minister voiced concern that the "best and the brightest" were not attracted to politics and the educated professionals and the growing middle-class often shy away from the electoral process.

UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi underlined the need to check money and muscle power in elections and prevent persons with criminal background from entering the poll arena.

All the above statements look good on dias but these leaders do not make any attempt to stop giving tickets to criminals. That's the fate of political system of India.
