Java anyday.. evergreen and lots of opportunities.. but it is vast and you have to work hard for the first one year.. .net is good but not as many opportunities as Java and also a lot of UScitizens and gc holders in the market for .net

Both are good now

.Net easy so more people

Java all ways good but need contnious upgrading

Java good billing and interesting and challenging

I work on .NET.

1. Java has lot of oppurtunities say 150-200 jobs/ week (while marketing)
.Net will have also 100-150 jobs/week
2. Pay in Java is comparitibvely high than .NEt
3.Long term is beneficial in both...can become team leads/ project managers easily within 3-4 years
4.Full time available more in Java than .Net, lot of contract 2 hire jobs in java.
5.NET is conmparitvely tough in programming/ coding to java
6. less people choose .Net than Java , so the competation is less for .NEt , but equal tough ness in coding to java and less pay also.
7. You can easily survive with both of them in India also .

Finally if you are computer sciences / IT back round guy go with Java.
Bottom line: You can learn both and then think which you feel confident and suitable. All the best. _-_
